With the much anticipated DVD release of the Oscar winning best film of the year came early reports that no special features were included, despite stating otherwise on the cover and official press release. Then came confirmation that the omissions were indeed sadly true and fans were left to wonder what went wrong. The problem, it seems, stems from FOX's recent decision to issue special features-less DVDs for the rental markets. The "logic" was that audiences would be forced to buy the DVDs in order see the bonus features. Gone would be the opportunity to preview the extras for renters who could then decide if the bonus features warranted purchasing the DVD. The new policy was to go into effect with the home video release of the studio's biggest hit in recent years, 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Unfortunately, the studio failed to learn one of the biggest lessons from this film; there is no escaping Karma.
